The Beginning of 2017

Hello all! January has been fairly busy month and I can’t believe it has gone by so quick. Since my first post of the year, I have been working and had a variety of social outings with that I have already been doing a bit of ‘planning my life’ as I call it. It is a time of goal- setting and reviewing what I want, where I want to go and preparing to have a smooth sailing 12 months ahead.

2016 was an amazing year for me, as you would have read if you’ve been following me here. It was a year of new beginnings, marriage, bit of interstate travel and of course our honeymoon to the US. It was huge! I’m not entirely sure what the future holds, however, I’m sure 2017 will have adventures nonetheless.

What have I been up to ?

I have been working in Melbourne quite a bit but otherwise I also managed to get down there to check out a gallery or two or a show now and then. This month I went to the Art of Banksy. For those that don’t know Banksy is an anonymous British street artist who is known for his controversial art work and political, satirical street art. After watching a documentary Banksy Does New York, I was looking forward to seeing what this exhibition had to offer. Honestly I think you should see the exhibition for yourself and I’m not about review anything but I thought I would share this (see pic below) artwork, which is one of many of my favourites.

I was also fortunate to go to a Nick Cave concert, here in Ballarat a few weeks ago and managed to get right up the front. Nick Cave’s performance was amazing, his voice along with poetic lyrics, is one of the reasons he has made it huge.  Along with Nick Cave was Warren Ellis, a Ballarat boy who played the violin and was I joy to watch indeed.

Among other things, I have been getting my fitness on by heading to the gym regularly three times a week. As much as it can sometimes be hard and laziness can take it’s toll, me and my gym buddy are going well. Consistency is key, isn’t that what they say?..

What have I been reading ?

So to alleviate stress and boredom, I read. I find that I seem to go through phases with fiction and non-fiction and I mostly have been reading non-fiction books as of late. It must be because I feel the need to learn and educate myself and I seem to gravitate towards gaining knowledge through books.

Never thought I’d pick up Bloom by Estee Lalonde, fellow Youtuber but this was a fun and enjoyable easy read, part-memoir especially if you have been following her since her early days (Yes me!).

Wardrobe Crisis by Clare Press is a book I picked whilst research fashion trends and manufacturing of clothing. It takes a look at how the fashion world has grown over the last 50 years into a money making industry and also sustainability of fashion. I loved this book and will be re-reading again.

Another non-fiction title, Capture Your Style by Aimee Song, who became famous through her blog and Instagram, this book is about taking photos. Easy, hands on book full of examples and photos to inspire likeminded bloggers. I’m still reading this one and borrowed it from the library but think I will have to get my personal copy.

What have I been watching?

I don’t think that this will come to a surprise to anyone but La La Land has to be my favourite movie in the last few months. Sorry Star Wars! The song and dance has to be one of the reasons that I love the movie. Not to mention the two loveable characters that are played by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone it’s no wonder the movie has been nominated for many awards already. Go watch if you haven’t! Slightly tear-jerking.

That’s all new for the month folks! I’m not sure if I will keep this up monthly however I thought if would be a great of sharing what my highlights were. Have a great week ahead! xx
