100 Days to the Big Day

Most of my regular readers would know that I mostly discuss beauty and fashion related things, as much as my life is fairly transparent, there are some things I would like to keep closer to my heart.

I haven’t mentioned it but in 100 days I will be marrying the love of my life!! I still can’t believe it but it’s happening. Life has been a whirlwind for me for the last few years but I guess dreams to come true and meeting my fiancee was one of them.

We have been engaged for more than a year now and it has been good the only bad thing is that we live in different countries at the moment. A long distance relationship hasn’t been easy but I have an amazing partner who makes a point to travel with me and spend a week together with quarter of the last year. This time apart has made us appreciate what we have. I would never wish an LDR upon anyone however I guess the saying, “good things come to those who wait”, rings true for us both.

The photos shown are of my gorgeous engagement ring picked out by the man himself. It’s a beautiful cluster type ring with different shaped diamonds in the one setting. I love the vintage feel the ring exudes with a modern almost-Tiffany type setting.

Wedding planning is well underway and we are both really excited! I might be doing a few wedding related posts but not so sure how it will all work out yet. Let me know if there is anything I can share with you.

Why It’s Important to have Basic Skin Care

As I speak, I’m about a day to my final exams for the beauty therapy course that I have been doing for the last 8 months. Something I’ve learnt in beauty and also from my mum is that skin care is important and there are some three key steps we should follow to preserve and maintain our skin.

Basic Skincare

Basic Skincare

The most important thing everyone must have in their daily routine is skin cleansing. Cleansing is key because men and women both live in the environment. This air around us contains dirt and pollution especially in big cities and more populated areas. A daily cleanse is necessary to remove all traces of dirt, grime and for women- leftover makeup.

The second step is toning. Toning is often overlooked as most don’t understand how a bit of clear lotion can help the face however I would like to say it’s a necessity. I myself have neglected using a toner in my routine for years out of laziness. A toner is used after cleansing (when the pores are open) to help refine the skin structure and tighten pores. It also helps to replenish the moisture that is stripped away after cleansing the skin.

Lastly, to seal the deal, a moisturiser prepares the skin for the environment. Moisturiser is a barrier for the skin before going out into the outdoors. It creates a layer on the skin and protects from any harshness from pollution and effects from the weather. Not all moisturisers contain SPF ( you should use sunscreen for that) but some do and it is necessary to also protect yourself from the UV rays of the sun.

How does your basic skin care routine look like? Please share you thoughts:-)

Alright, Day 3 of Blogmas and looking forward to hearing what you all think… Sarah xo.

A Night at the Mandarin Oriental

I love overnight getaways and this weekend my mum and I had a little freebie from the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur. We have been meaning to use it for our October birthday treat but we have both been so busy and finally had to use up the voucher by its expiry date. I have stayed at this Mandarin Oriental a couple of times with my partner in crime, Mr SbS so I have nothing but the best things to say about the place.

This hotel is in an excellent spot right in the centre of Kuala Lumpur next to the Petronas Twin Towers which makes it picturesque and handy. It’s great for shopping, nightlife and sightseeing. The hotel is probably one of the best rated ones and stands at five stars. If you are looking to splurge, this is the place to stay at but worth every Ringgit.

Every aspect of this hotel is excellent from the time you walk through the front door, the staff are always there to serve and smiles all round. They always have a pleasant manner and willing to lend a hand. The hotel is Oriental-themed and has minimal asian influence throughout but still keeps to its international reputation.

The restaurants here are pricey however if you prefer to spend less, there is a plethora to choose from in the surrounding areas. Mosaic (the restaurant downstairs) serves delicious meals all day. I have tried the Spa at Mandarin on a separate holiday and must highly recommend them too.

Mum and I didn’t really do much except relax a whole lot and did a bit of window shopping at Suria KLCC but that was the plan really, a relaxing pampering session complete with face masks and all.

I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Kuala Lumpur for a short or long stay (budget permitting) especially those who are interested in something a bit special.

All I Want for Christmas

This is a really fun post about beautiful things really. I love Christmas! Why? It’s such a wonderful time of the year, lots of food, drink and most of Christmas presents!! The big day is only 24 days away so for those of you looking around for ideas to get your loved one’s this Christmas, here is my personal wish list.

Diptyque Candle

Diptyque Holiday Candle Trio

Diptyque Holiday Candle Trio

Diptyque is a French brand of luxurious scents and for me this is definitely a splurge in quality perfumery. I love most of their range of candles and perfumes. This would make the perfect gift especially the Christmas holiday release they have that has woody and sweet cinnamon scents to create the cosy warmth of the season. I also like their permanent range especially the Baies and Figuier candles.

Although these don’t come cheap, they last a long time and the scent is much more concentrated than most other scented candle brands. The packaging for Diptyque is beautiful in an elegant white box with black apothecary look on the label. Tres chic! Diptyque is available in Australia in Mecca stores and online.

FRENDS Headphones

I know this is luxurious but I think if I were going to own THE pair of headphones, this would be it. I have had my eye on this for the longest time (2 years to be exact) and still haven’t bought them myself. Now they have them so many different varieties and colours. My pick would be the Layla in Tahitian Pearl. The caps make such a gorgeous accessory too!

Commes des Garcons pouch

I haven’t really carried a handbag around for the last year. I have leant more on to the minimal side, where I carry a small pouch which fits all my essentials; card, some cash and my phone and that’s it. My current pouch has had a lot of us and is a bit worn so time for an upgrade.

I love this simplicity of this Commes des Garcons one in Black. The size of this is also perfect for all my essentials and maybe even a lipstick or two. Great durability as it comes in leather.

Anything from Mecca

For those that have no idea what to get me, I love anything beauty related so skincare or makeup. Mecca have just released some gorgeous edits that have a few handpicked products in smaller sizes. I love all of them otherwise anything they sell always makes me smile.

– – –

Just to add, I have decided to do Blogmas this year. This means I will commit to doing a post each day in December up to Christmas. It’s a big thing for me as I have never attempted to do it however it’s also a bit of a challenge to myself. I will post about anything and everything with some Christmas related stuff as well. It’s a busy time of the year and I honestly have a lot on but I will stop complaining and get on with it!

Lots of love and thank you for stopping by!
