Books, books, books

The first thing I have to say is I’m sorry! I have been away for a long time (a month to be exact!) . When I first started this blog, I had a part-time job and this gave me lots of time to write but the case is not so right now. Studying for a beauty school exam you would think doesn’t require all my time but it does. We have practical almost 5 days a week and learn university level anatomy & physiology and for me it’s not so easy- haven’t been back to uni in almost 6-7 years. I’m also working on simultaneous projects leading up to my exams which will be in October this year. All I can say is I can’t wait to finish and graduate already!

So to get myself inspired to write anything, two of my favourite aspirations in fashion and beauty have decided to write books.

The first one is none other than Lisa Eldridge. I have been following Lisa’s Youtube channel since she first began her channel and blog in 2010. She is a well-known makeup artist and has graced the pages of all the top magazines and celebrities. I love her hands-on yet simple approach to makeup and watching her videos I learnt so much about caring for my skin and everything from foundation to cat-eye lining. When I first found out she was writing a book, I was beyond ecstatic and now I can’t wait to see it!! In her own words, she describes the book as “a hardback book (8 x 10 inches), with 60,000 words – full of fascinating, surprising and at times unbelievable stories of how and why the items in your makeup bag got to be there. I also spent a long time sourcing the right images – beautiful paintings, illustrations and iconic photography – to tell the story”.

Facepaint: The Story of Makeup is now available for pre-order and will be out in stores on October 13th. So just in time for my birthday!! * Hint, hint. Just the cover makes me salivate for whats inside. So much awesomeness!

The next my favourite lifestyle fashion writer, blogger cum photographer, Garance Dore. Garance was one of the first pioneers who began blogging about fashion and I’ve been an avid follower since wow 2007! She is French and just the way she speaks makes me want to keep listening. The book will be, “talking about style obviously, shopping, make up, fashion weeks and high heels, but also about how to (try to) be a beautiful woman inside and outside”.

Garance’s book is called Love x Style x Life and will be in stories from October 27th. *Hint! I am excited to see what these two books will be like when they come out. In the meantime, I am re:inspired to get back to my drawing board and keep calm and just write!

Happy Friday, y’all xo
